First Lady joins fight against Ebola


Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has joined the fight against the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, as she embarks on nationwide sensitisation campaign on the killer virus.
Mrs. Jonathan said this at a public health education organised by the Women for Change and Development Initiative, W4CDI, with the theme, ‘One Day Sensitisation on Empowering Women for Better Health Through Public Health Education and Enlightenment on Ebola Virus Disease’.

The First Lady, who is initiator and grand patron of W4CDI, was represented by the National Coordinator, W4CDI, Princess Rabi Ibrahim, expressed concern and commitment to create awareness of EVD, saying that women should be at the vanguard of enlightening their families and communities about the disease.


Ibrahim said: “The First Lady is very serious and committed when it comes to health matters, and that is why she introduced this monthly health talks. We are not just having this health talk because of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, it is something we have been doing before.

“Her Excellency is somebody who is passionate about the health of Nigerian women, children and youth. And she makes sure that no stone is left unturned when it comes to issues concerning the Nigerian youth.
