The Bauchi Police Command has arrested a suspected rapist in Bauchi for allegedly attacking a 13-year-old girl.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSP Haruna Mohammed, said this in a statement on Monday in Bauchi.
The statement said that the incident happened on Sunday (Sept. 28).
He said that the 35-year-old suspect, name withheld, who resides at Tambari Housing Estate in the outskirts of Bauchi, allegedly raped the girl who was alone in her house.
The police image maker added that the suspect had been arrested by detectives attached to the police GRA division.
He said that the police had taken the girl to the hospital for medical examination, adding that the suspect also had assaulted the girl last year.
Haruna said investigations into the matter had commenced, pointing out that the suspect would appear in court as soon as investigation on the matter is completed.
TBauchi has been witnessing increasing cases of rape in recent time with boys and girls as victims.
