BREAKING: Soldiers repel Boko Haram from entering Biu

According to reports from Borno State, the Boko Haram insurgents are being repelled by soldiers from gaining entrance into Biu town. One resident, Kaka Ali, told newsmen that the insurgents arrived early Wednesday through the southern part of the town, and moved to take over the army barracks there.

Boko Haram militants have largely been largely kept out of Biu through the combined efforts of the military and the youth of Biu town.

“Our boys have already taken strategic position waiting for them, at the moment, the soldiers are battling them. All we can hear now are gunshots from the direction of the barracks,” Mr. Ali said.
The group has seized many towns in Borno and Adamawa States. The latest seizure was Baga, overrun by the militants more than a week ago.
